Chinese telecom equipment supplier Huawei and French chipmaker Sequans Communications recently announced that they entered into a cooperation agreement, under which both parties will collaborate in the development and maturity of TD-LTE (Time Division-Long Term Evolution) technology, according to a press release by Huawei on October 20. Huawei and Sequans recently conducted a TD-LTE demonstration in Guangzhou, with an aim to establish a TD-LTE demonstration network for the upcoming 16^th annual Asian Games, to be held next month. Huawei and Sequans partnered for LTE beginning in 2009, when they were both chosen by China Mobile to help the company launch the world's first TD-LTE demonstration network at the Shanghai World Expo 2010, using their prospective technologies.

 

Meanwhile, NSN (Nokia Siemens Networks) recently announced the successful demonstration of a TD-LTE network based on BWA (Broadband Wireless Access) spectrum in India, with an aim to build the TD-LTE ecosystem in India, according to a press release by NSN on October 19. NSN stated that the company had demonstrated HD (High Definition) video streaming and three-way video conferencing during TD-LTE trials in its R&D facility located in Bengaluru, India, leveraging Samsung's interoperable TD-LTE dongles. The demonstration network is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 110Mbps, with low latency ranging between 10 and 20 milliseconds. In early 2010, NSN also demonstrated TD-LTE trials during the Shanghai World Expo, and successfully made TD-LTE calls at its R&D center in Hangzhou and at Taiwan's National Chiao Tung University, according again to NSN's press release.
